GLOS Annual Meeting scheduled for June 19-20

The GLOS Annual Meeting will be held June 19-20 in Ann Arbor, Mich., and will be the inaugural meeting for the newly elected GLOS Board of Directors. All Steering Committee members are encouraged to attend this event. An open invitation is also extended to the larger GLOS Regional Interest Group (RIG). If you are receiving this email...you're invited!

This meeting will provide an excellent overview of GLOS, including governance, research and monitoring priorities of the Regional Association, as well as background on the national Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS) and related initiatives. GLOS subsystems and components will be discussed in detail. These include monitoring efforts that are underway and projected in the open waters, interconnecting waterways, and nearshore areas of the Great Lakes. Presentations on remote sensing and ecological forecasting are planned. Pertinent federal legislation related to IOOS, data management, and outreach and education initiatives of GLOS will also be highlighted.

The meeting -- to be held at an Ann Arbor-area hotel -- will run 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Monday, June 19, with an evening reception to follow. On Tuesday, June 20, the meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude with lunch. Following lunch, the Board will hold its inaugural business meeting.

If you are planning to travel to Ann Arbor for this meeting, please respond to Elaine Sterrett Isely, eisely@glc.org and indicate what days you'll be attending and if you anticipate needing overnight lodging for Sunday and/or Monday nights. This information will be very helpful for planning purposes.
